Vacations are always relaxing, right? welcome you all back to my blog. It’s been months being away from you guys. On account of me needing quite a relaxing time, I realized to run away and gulp the fresh air. Taking a vacation and coming back to your purpose is truly important for your creative work is what I believe. As traveling is one of my favorite thing to do, I drove on a trip this weekend just to relax.
One fine morning, woke up to the erring alarm sound but with a happy mind that I am gonna get lost into another place in a few hours. We as a family started to the princess of hill station “Kodaikanal” which was a few hours drive from my place. The day earlier we had news flashing “Heavy rain to be poured in Kodai”. I was worried whether we will make it but for sure had no idea of backing off from the plan. Even supposing it rains we were set to enjoy and find beauty in that.
We were lucky that there was no downpouring when we were revving up the hill, tiny raindrops were dancing to the melody of weather, accompanied by the mesmerizing sound of the waterfall. We were welcomed by the lush green trees, the smell of damp trees and wet soil welcomed us into beautiful Kodai. The month of November is best to visit for people who love seeing the misty fogs surrounding the mountains, slow raindrops drizzling all over the place, the beautiful dewdrops sliding over the forest green leaves.

Since I had already been to Kodai had no interest to visit tourist places in and around. Since we planned on a relaxing trip, we booked a resort where staying indoor made us more comfortable, where good food was available, where we had leisure activities.
Day One
It was two days trip, on the first day of reaching Kodaikanal, due to a heavy rain alert there were a few people who canceled their trips and there were a few more luxury rooms vacant. We spoke to the hotel receptionist and took tour of few rooms and got the best room with the beautiful view. Remember all it takes is to have negotiating skills :). We were tired from traveling, had sumptuous lunch, and hit the bed and we spoke about all random stuff, our life, and our future, all silly shits and we just dozed off.
We woke up by evening and we strolled off for a pleasant walk, they had a bonfire and music arranged. We melted ourselves against the bonfire and got lost in the melody music which was flowing in the air. Had a relaxing time. As we were lazy enough to hit the restaurant we ordered room service for dinner. Since the climate was too cool, I was craving something quite hot. Being south Indian I always look for hot steam rice and we ordered chicken curry sautéed with all Indian spices with a tinge of coconut milk with complimented the rice. We had the hotel special Kothu parotta where the plain parotta will be kothified (into pieces) and drenched completely in chicken salna (watery consistent gravy) oh my God when you place the hot, spicy gravy drenched parotta in your mouth its heaven. Later we hit the bed with a happy tummy.
Day Two
The next morning, I woke up to the chirping sound of birds, not sure what bird was that but it was calming to hear the beautiful noise of birds near the window waking us up, which we had forgotten to rejoice in our busy city life. As I woke up with a calm and fresh mind the first thing I hit the balcony wondering at the picturesque view outside. The mundane routine of scrolling down the mobile phone was replaced by watching water-drenched green trees and leaves were mesmerizing for the eyes to witness the first thing in the morning. It was all foggy, the waterfall sound was adding music to the beauty. We made a cup of black tea and enjoyed our morning.
We were provided complimentary breakfast. I will have to tell you, there was a crazy variety of items present. I tasted every single item present there. It brought different state flavors to my tongue. That was one hell of a meal.
We planned to stay indoor and reserved a spa appointment which was available in the hotel. We had a relaxing 45 minutes of spa where the soothing image of Buddha was all over the walls, aromatic candles brought relaxing effect to our mind, the calming music was honey dropping to our ears which was completely relaxing and a long pending item in our list.
Getting this done brought us to afternoon, we had a hot shower hitting our room and headed to have sumptuous meal to the restaurant. We went all south Indian last night so we opted for continental for lunch. We decided to have a light meal after the consequences of complementary breakfast. In contrast we ended up eating heavy. I was wondering, we did nothing since morning but still we were hungry and ended up stuffing our stomach. I realized food is an addiction. The food was great though. The outcome was cozy tight nap.

We woke up by evening, strolled by the garden, overlooked the beautiful view, we were grateful for that moment, which was lively without any traffic buzzing, listening to birds chirping, no gadgets, walking hand in hand with your loved one is one such life everyone is yearning for. We at times forgot all this in our busy schedule. We don’t even stop to realize are we that busy? are we that occupied? we put a tag on us saying I should be busy working, I shouldn’t have time to spend with my family. Throw all your mask what you are wearing, start living for us, for our family, for our happiness rather than satisfying someone in the other corner of the globe.
That was my relaxing trip to Kodaikanal and we left by next day with a happy mind and tummy 🙂
